I know I don’t post very often (there are just not enough hours in the day to do it all), but I am very excited about my latest project that was just approved and wrapped up yesterday. The Peace Center and Bucks County’s Office of the District Attorney joined forces and partnered with me to produce a video that will be used to help educate Bucks County law enforcement on the issue of cyberbullying. This issue has grown along with technology and strikes hard in our own community…and not just with kids. Pennsylvania does not have cybercrime-specific crime code, but many existing crimes code align with aspects of cyberbullying (and other cyber crimes) and such situations still need proper investigation and prosecution, when appropriate.
I was so honored to hear the stories of a few teens who have lived through tragic circumstances and I was able to interview their parents, as well. These stories, while containing heart-wrenching pain, also contain great hope. Each has worked, and continues to work, toward a much better place in life, and The Peace Center has been a part of that for them.
I’m not sure I’ll be able to post this one for public viewing. But please check out The Peace Center (based in Langhorne) and learn about all the great things they do in our community. And please know that the DA’s Office is incredibly supportive of this effort. Plus, Chief Prosecutor Matt Weintraub did a great job on camera, too!
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Well, my thoughtful year-end blog post never happened. Neither did a “state of the union” type of new year post. But here I am. It’s nearly March. Last September, I spent a week in Virginia (and 1 overnight in Durham, NC) shooting for Fresh Expressions US. Three of the mini-docs have been completed and can now be viewed here. I also recently finalized “Families & The Ranch” and “Faces of the Ranch: Amanda & Ben Verheul”–both are the end product of my week shooting at Ring Lake Ranch in Wyoming last July. You can also check them out here. The most recently completed project is a fantastic animated product demo piece completed for April Masterson and her client, LimnTech Scientific. TD Post & Animation created the animation. Same link works for this one, too. Enjoy!
I’m also happy to have recently celebrated 3 years of the full-time operation of Cotton Field Communications. In 2010, I was thrilled and amazed (not to mention incredibly thankful) when I made it to the 6-month mark. It has been a wonderful 3 years. Many thanks to all of my clients, project partners, friends and family for their support. Let’s keep using video to tell your stories! Email vcap@cottonfieldonline.com for more info or to start talking about your new video.

Though these were finalized a few weeks ago, I just posted some new projects on my website (via Vimeo and YouTube). I recently produced an overview video for Newtown-based Potential, Inc. and The Springtime School—organizations providing services and supports for children and adults with Autism. In addition to interviewing staff and the founder/executive director, I interviewed a few parents and spent many hours in and around the kids and adults receiving services. What an amazing experience! The full-story overview video turned out to be 7+ minutes, so we decided to complete that version for screening at their big Autumn fundraiser and then cut 3 shorter variations for web use. These turned out to be a mini-overview video, a parent testimonial video and an adult services video.
About 2 months ago, I spent a day shooting down near the Port of Baltimore. My client, ICETEC Energy Services, wants to begin using video to tell their clients’ stories of energy use, procurement and load management. MTC Logistics—a cold storage and shipping company—was the first to tell their story. Their story, of course, included a bit about how they have benefitted substantially from their relationship with ICETEC.
You can check these new videos out by visiting www.cottonfieldonline.com/Watch. And stay tuned to hear about my 8 days shooting in Virginia/North Carolina and the 5 videos I’m now editing for Fresh Expressions US.
